Follow these three basic steps to install your own fire glass. Instructions for installing fire pit glass are simple and straightforward – just follow the directions and you should be able to do it yourself. Please remember to consult a licensed contractor if you are in any doubt.

1. Measure and Add Your Filler

Use a ruler or measuring tape to mark three to four inches down from the top edge of your fire pit. Make a small mark with a pencil, then fill your pit up with lava rock or sand filler up to that mark.

2. Install Fire Burner

On top of your lava rock or sand filler, install your fire pit burner with the gas holes pointing up to help maximize flame size and efficiency. Note – Always follow local building codes when installing burners, especially for propane burners which may require a pan to be installed underneath the burner.

3. Pour in Fire Glass

Last but not least, simply pour your fire glass on top of your lava rock, sand or other filler. Using a large bucket can be helpful to control the pour, though you can also pour straight from the bag packaging. After you’ve added the glass, wear protective gloves and use your hands to shape the fire glass as you wish. The most common shape is a mound that is slightly higher in the center or along anywhere the flames will be dancing above the glass.

It’s as easy as that! Your fire pit glass installation is complete and ready for use. We hope you found this guide to installing fire glass useful.
